This was a collaborative project with Aoife Lucey and we designed a system that ensures that farmer’s update and safe check their machinery regularly. The system will remind farmers via a pop up notification on their smart phone. These notifications will pop up when a certain part of machinery needs to be checked. The system will have all the machinery on the farm manually entered when set up. This will ensure each machine is checked regularly.

Farmers will be working hard and therefore are very busy the majority of the time. The physical environment on a farm and surrounding areas are overly noisy with a lot of farm machinery and livestock creating an atmosphere, which makes it difficult for the farmer to hear his phone. A notification from the application would have an increased audio sound and a stronger vibration to ensure the farmer gets notified by the application.
The data received from use of the application would have to be stored remotely, uploaded to the cloud at weekly intervals, so that the information would be accessible later on to make sure that the methods put in place by the application are been used by the farmer. These would also give the farmer/user the ability to receive bi-annually reports on the applications use.
The application will have a website attached giving the farmer the ability to access there files and also giving them online user support. It will also contain a frequently asked questions section.
